The Anthony Nolan Trust is the UK's largest stem cell Register. The company was founded in 1974 as the first Register of volunteers willing to donate bone marrow in circumstances where a match cannot be found within a patient's family.
The Trust was set up by Shirley Nolan, who established the Register in an attempt to save the life of her son, Anthony, who suffered from a rare bone marrow disease which left his immune system unable to fight infection. That challenge sadly failed but the Trust remains and now holds one of the largest databases of unrelated donors in the world.
The Anthony Nolan Trust has been a customer of R-kive.it for almost 3 years and their primary reason for selecting a scanning system was due to lack of space for the company.
When selecting a scanning system, the Trust did look at various vendors on the market, but felt that R-kive.it was the most cost effective solution, a very important factor for a cost conscious charity.
The Anthony Nolan Trust feels that R-kive.it provides a very good, reliable standard of service - another very important factor due to the confidentiality required in many cases for the Trust.
"The software is nice and easy to use and is much quicker than looking through paper files. Just knowing that documents are close to hand and easy to get to is great and is a huge benefit to the Trust."
Edel Harkin, The Anthony Nolan Trust
The Trust often needs to retrieve files of donors who return to help them a second time in order to check notes regarding their treatment the first time round. Without a scanning system they would not be able to retrieve the files as quickly and efficiently as they do and the process would take a lot longer to complete. In addition to this, they feel that the amount of space they are saving is extremely important and has enabled them to receive a return on their investment in R-kive.it.
